For 40 years, Lifeline WA has been there for Western Australians in their toughest moments. What began on the airwaves of 6PR's Nightline with Graham Mabury OAM has grown into a 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention service providing support by phone, text and online chat.
On October 6, Lifeline WA and 6PR are coming together for the 40 Years of Listening Radio Giving Day. We're inviting our community to help ensure support remains available for the conversations still to come.

IT ALL BEGAN WITH A CONVERSATION
From one late-night call on 6PR to 115,568 Western Australians seeking support in a single year. Can you help keep Lifeline WA on the line?
40 years ago, a person called into 6PR's Nightline. They were struggling and needed someone to listen. On the other end of the line was Graham Mabury OAM.
That conversation inspired the creation of Lifeline WA, a service dedicated to ensuring nobody has to face their toughest moments alone. What began as a small group of volunteers answering calls through the night has today grown into a 24/7 crisis support service providing support by phone, text and online chat.
But every conversation depends on someone being there to answer. As we celebrate 40 Years of Listening, we're asking our community to help ensure support remains available for the next conversation, and the next person who reaches out for help.

Our Impact Last Year...
115,568 Western Australians contacted Lifeline by phone, text and chat, seeking support through crisis, distress and suicidal thoughts.
577 Lifeline WA Crisis Supporters were there to listen.
12,704 Australians at risk of suicide had a safety plan developed, working alongside a Lifeline WA Crisis Supporter to navigate suicidality.
